Amplifying the impact of your new executive recruits
Are you recruiting new executive leaders into your trust?
Would you like to minimise the risks involved and maximise the impact of your new recruits?
Maybe you'd also like to provide an incentive to help attract the highest quality candidates to your role.
If so, why not consider offering coaching as part of your recruitment and retention package?

The stakes are high when you're recruiting new executive leaders
Recruiting someone into an executive role is a high stakes exercise. You're taking a leap of faith. There are risks at every stage of the process, from attracting the right candidate, through to their journey into the role. The new recruit has a lot to get their head around:
-
new systems and processes
-
building new relationships with peers, line managers and direct reports
-
establishing trust and credibility
If it's their first executive role, they'll also have to get into the mindset of leading across schools, which requires different skills and behaviours to leading a single school.
If the new leader doesn't adapt well to their new environment, it can cause all kinds of problems: rifts can develop which become hard to repair and key relationships can get off on the wrong footing.
Coaching through transition really works
Moving into a new, high profile role can make a leader feel quite exposed. Self-doubt can creep in. It's important to recognise these feelings, and work through them, in order to transition smoothly, build trust and credibility and make an early impact in the role.
For those that are transitioning from leading one school to leading across schools, it's important to recognise the different skills and behaviours they need to lean into, and to navigate that journey sensitively and in line with values.
As a coach, these are situations I am well-versed in. Executive coaching is an excellent tool for deep reflection. In my work with coachees, I help them to transition into new roles with curiosity and intentionality, ensuring they are responding to new situations rather than reacting.
This type of work can't be done 'in house'. A safe, non-judgemental situation is needed, which is almost impossible to create if you're someone's line manager or colleague.

Working with Helen has been transformational to my thought process when dealing with complex issues. I have found having the time to discuss current situations and the opportunity to talk in depth pragmatically, with someone impartial, about the impact my decisions, actions and next steps may have, has been extremely effective in further shaping my leadership skills.
Charlotte Krzanicki, Primary Education Director

Why me?
My background as a school leader with 17 years of experience, including 10 as a headteacher, mean I understand this territory well. I've led both LA and trust schools, and been part of a trust executive team through a period of fast growth. I am also a trustee of a large MAT which keeps me up to date with developments in the school trust sector.
But although my leadership experience helps me to empathise and understand a client's situation, it's not the most important skillset I'm bringing to bear. As a coach with 5 years of experience (check out my credentials), I'm a skilled listener, and questioner. I'm bringing compassion, but I know that in order to truly empower executive leaders in education, I need to also bring challenge, so I lean into 'positive provocation' where needed, to help clients see more and grow and develop in the directions they need to as leaders.
Recent client, Andrew Clarke, Senior Education Director, said this about his experience of coaching with me:
‘Helen has provided coaching that is understanding, developmental and enabling. Her style has supported real personal growth in ‘holding up the mirror’ and asking deep questions. This was invaluable. I could not recommend this highly enough. If you seek effective and engaging coaching for growth – look no further!’
There's just me in this coaching company, so what you see is what you get! I pride myself on high quality customer service at a reasonable price, reflecting the fact that I'm working with public sector organisations. I specialise in 1:1 coaching and supervision work with heads and executive leaders.
