Executive Coaching

Executive coaching is a service I provide for education leaders working at the executive level of school, college or trust.

The rise of the academy sector in the first quarter of this century has completely transformed education in the UK. Leadership roles exist now that no-one imagined 25 years ago: Executive Headteacher, CEO, Deputy CEO, Education Director, Head of School, the list goes on. If you're in one of these roles, you have a job description, but there's not really an established tradition of what the job involves. You’re treading new ground and establishing new traditions.I believe that brings its own challenges. Having regular conversations about your work helps you to navigate this new territory consciously, staying aligned with your purpose and values and spotting pitfalls before they happen.

The challenges of leadership are very different when you’re a step removed from the frontline, and working across schools. Below are some of the areas that often come up in coaching conversations:

Coaching that refreshes your perspective

Common coaching topics for executive leaders

‘Helen has provided coaching that is understanding, developmental and enabling. Her style has supported real personal growth in ‘holding up the mirror’ and asking deep questions. This was invaluable. I could not recommend this highly enough. If you seek effective and engaging coaching for growth – look no further!’

Andrew Clarke, Senior Education Director.

Why choose me as your coach?

I've spent over 30 years working in the education sector, including 10 years as a head. I've led both trust and LA schools and have worked as part of a trust executive team. I am currently a trustee of a large MAT in the North East which keeps me in touch with the latest developments in the sector. I'm knowledgeable about educational leadership, but I'm carrying that experience lightly. I don't allow it to get in the way of high quality coaching, which is about 'holding up the mirror' and drawing out your resourcefulness.
